What's coming up this Cyber Security Awareness Month
Contents
Dear reader,
It’s October, which can only mean one thing. Amongst the pre-Halloween excitement, and the extra-early Christmas displays in shops, we’ll once again be using this month to raise the profile of cyber security in Jersey.
In early 2025 we took the decision to run events throughout the year instead of focusing them in October. However, we do still have several events coming up, including the annual Channel Islands Cyber Security Conference, alongside the CIISF. (See below).
We’re partnering with Soteria Communications to run two incident response exercises for company directors and those working in financial services. These events are always popular and - thanks to the kind sponsorship of Appleby - they are once again free to attend.
We’re also raising awareness more generally about cyber security: you might have spotted the first of a series of articles in a special JEP supplement today, which you can read in full here.
Finally, we know that for many Islanders, being aware of cyber security isn’t enough: they need support and guidance to help them understand the risks they face, and how they can meet them. That’s why I’m pleased to share that we’ll be piloting a new service to coincide with Cyber Security Awareness month: Cyber Health Check.
This free service will give organisations an overview of their current cyber security risks, as well as 15 pages of advice and guidance on how they can improve. We’ve designed Cyber Health Check so that it can act as a ‘first step’ towards Cyber Essentials Accreditation. We’ll be sharing more about this pilot shortly, so keep an eye on your inbox for eligibility details and more.
Alongside these events, we’ll continue to focus on our two largest projects: establishing Guernsey Cyber Security Centre, and continuing progress on the Cyber Security (Jersey) Law. These are both significant undertakings that will significantly improve the islands’ cyber security position.
Until next time,

Cyber Simulation Events: in partnership with Soteria Communications and Appleby

Once again, we’ve partnered with Soteria Communications to deliver two cyber simulation events in October. These events are kindly sponsored by Appleby, which means they are free to attend.
We have two sessions available:
Monday 13 October (2pm - 5pm) for people working in Financial Services
Tuesday 14 October (9am - 12pm) for Company Directors
In each session, you’ll be presented with an industry-specific cyber incident, and have the chance to develop your response and plan your defences in a confidential, supportive environment.
